Direct mass measurements of neutron-deficient 152Sm projectile fragments at the FRS-ESR facility

The FRS-ESR facility at GSI provides one of the most efficient methods for direct mass measurements. In the present experiment, exotic nuclei were produced via fragmentation of ¹⁵²Sm projectiles in a thick beryllium target at 500-600 MeV/u, separated in-flight with the fragment separator FRS, and injected into the storage-cooler ring ESR. Time-resolved Schottky Mass Spectrometry was applied for mass measurements of stored and electron-cooled bare and few-electron ions. 373 different nuclides were identified by means of the spectra of their revolution frequencies. Masses for 18 nuclides (⁸⁴Zr, ⁹²Ru, ⁹⁴Rh, ^107,108,110Sb, ^111,112,114I, ¹¹⁸Ba, ^122,123La, ¹²⁴Ce, ¹²⁷Pr, ¹²⁹Nd, ¹³²Pm, ¹³⁴Sm, ¹³⁷Eu) have been determined for the first time. Masses for ^111,112I and ¹¹³Xe have been obtained via known α-decay energies. The experiment and first results will be presented.

Sofic groups and direct finiteness

We construct an analogue of von Neumann's affiliated algebras for sofic group algebras over arbitrary fields. Consequently, we settle Kaplansky's direct finiteness conjecture for sofic groups.     

On the Embedding of Ordered Semigroups into Ordered Group

It was shown in [7] that any right reversible, cancellative ordered semigroup can be embedded into an ordered group and as a consequence, it was shown that a commutative ordered semigroup can be embedded into an ordered group if and only if it is cancellative. In this paper we introduce the concept of L-maher and R-maher semigroups and use a technique similar to that used in [7] to show that any left reversible cancellative ordered L or R-maher semigroup can be embedded into an ordered group.     

The matrix equation AXB+CYD=Eover a simple artinian ring

This paper discussed the matrix equation AXB+CYD=Eover a simple Artinian ring, obtains several necessary and sufficient conditions for existence of a solution, gives the representation of solution by g-inverses, and extends a theorem of W.E. Roth's simple Artinian rings.

The p-Blocks of the Mackey Algebra

Let p be a prime number. This paper describes the primitive idempotents and prime spectrum of the crossed Burnside algebra of a finite group over a p-local ring. The main application is a formula for the block idempotents of the p-local Mackey algebra of the group, in terms of the corresponding bloks of the group algebra.
